La Vespa Vista Mare
The verdict
Italian and seafood by a window wall over the bay, and the meal that changed our minds about both.
We had walked past this place for months without realising it is a separate restaurant from La Vespa Lounge & Grill in the same building. Five of us turned up at quarter past twelve without a booking and were seated straight away by the window.
Wine in five minutes, food in about twenty, and everything on the table was good. We do not usually go for Italian, and we left planning to come back.

The visit
The clams are the thing to order
Cherry tomatoes, parsley and a lot of clams. Kristen picked this out of a menu she found genuinely hard to choose from, and was very happy with it.
The spaghetti allo scoglio
Prawn, mussels and clams through it. Chris kept raving about this one, which is the phrase from the recording and the right one.
And the linguine alle vongole
Ordered by the rest of the table. Between this and the saute there is a lot of clam on offer here, and it is all worth having.
There is pizza too, and it is not an afterthought
A 4 Stagioni with ham, olives and artichoke. Useful to know if you are the one person at the table who does not want seafood.

The lighter option on a table that mostly went the other way. Everyone was happy with what they ordered, which with five people is not a given.
